Ah, first time? Yea... I should have figured that.

It happens to all of us, eventually... and yea... it’s weird at first. VERY weird. The first time I heard something I think I went a whole week without sleep. My mind just kept going and going and thinking about... well, everything.

But! I promise you, you’ll get used to it. I promise. After a couple of times, it just feels like a normal part of working here. And hey, on the bright side... you can get a couple extra days off here and there.

You did read the handbook... right? Please tell me you read the handbook. You know you're not supposed to talk to them...

First time, yea. And don’t worry. I didn’t respond.

Can I ask what your first one was like?

I was a month in, maybe? This is back in 2014. Got a call at my desk... as soon as I picked up, I knew exactly what it was.

It was a woman’s voice... static, distortion... it was hard to really understand it all.

Listen... I pulled some strings and got the recording from a friend in another Archives cohort. It’s up on the databank, if you want to listen to it. Or don't. I'll leave that decision up to you.

T... If you need anything, let me know.
